The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ has established a scholarship fund as part of a legal settlement between the University and the plaintiffs in a class action law suit regarding educational fees and will begin accepting applications on January 16, 2006.
The University has placed $10 million in a scholarship fund, which will create scholarships beginning in Fall 2006 for qualifying students and their spouses and children who are attending one of the campuses of the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥. Qualifying students attended one of the campuses of the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ as resident undergraduates between January 1995 and August 2001 and were above the age of 16 and below the age of 22.
In Fall 2006, as many as 4,770 scholarships of $500 each will be made available. To be eligible to compete for one of those scholarships, applicants must meet eligibility criteria and must complete an on-line application by the February 17, 2006 deadline.
“I am especially pleased that we were able to resolve this in a manner that is beneficial to our students,” UM President Elson S. Floyd said today.
