Media Advisory: University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ System announces two personnel changes effective July 1

Cindy S. Harmon, board secretary

The University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Board of Curators has appointed Cindy S. Harmon as board secretary. Currently a business operations manager at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Employers Mutual Insurance in Columbia, Harmon has more than 15 years of experience in projects and executive-level office management in the education, health care and insurance industries. Prior to joining MEM, she worked for the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Development Office and as a medical student/residency program coordinator and assistant manager for the obstetrics and gynecology department at University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Health Care.

In her new position, Harmon will support the activities of the nine curators who collectively serve as the governing body for the four campuses of the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ System. Her responsibilities will include new curator orientation; record keeping and management; preparation of meetings and travel planning; serving as a board liaison to the university system president, general officers, faculty, staff and constituents; and directing the operations of the board office. She received her bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.

Kathy Miller, interim chief of staff

Kathy Miller, who has served as board secretary for nearly 15 years, will become interim chief of staff for the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ System. She will assume the administrative responsibilities of David Russell, including the coordination of media requests for information under the provisions of the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Sunshine Law. Russell was recently appointed interim commissioner of higher education for the state of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥.
