This week the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ General Assembly was disrupted by the severe winter weather that impacted not only ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ but a good portion of the country. The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Senate decided last weekend to cancel this week’s activities. The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ House held technical session on both Monday and Tuesday and then convened for hearings and floor action on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development presented the Governor’s budget recommendations before the House Budget Committee. The committee is currently taking testimony from all state departments while subcommittees work on their budgets to provide to the House Budget Chairman prior to markups.
Also on Wednesday, President Choi visited the Capitol to meet with House Leadership and Governor Parson.
At noon on Wednesday, the House Health and Mental Health Committee heard testimony on House Bill 681, Representative Jason Chipman’s Health Care Fee’s bill.
Next week the legislature is scheduled to pick back up at full pace again and we anticipate a busy week.
